What a week, what a week. TDV's Jeff Berwick and Ken Johnson were in Paraguay for much of it, trying to find the best way for you, dear Dollar Vigilantes, to escape the USSA. Meanwhile, back in the home of the slave, the Republicans are holding a powwow in Florida where last night Clint Eastwood looked every bit the 82-year-old doddering fool that he is. As always, the GOP pushed the libertarian wing to the side, again proving that those who love freedom and liberty have no place in the good ole U S of A.

And now, on to your Feedback...

"I am endorsing, you know, peace and prosperity and individual liberty, the Constitution, and I'm more intense on that than I am on the politics of it." — Ron Paul at the GOP Convention, Tampa, FL 2012

As an anarcho-capitalist it is difficult for me to watch the election year shenanigans.  But, it is still hard not to watch, like a car wreck, as Ron Paul supporters got the cold shoulder and the message. The Republican Party played some awfully dirty pool. Now the Ron Paul supporters have done the only sensible thing. They’ve taken their ball and gone home.

TDV Week in Review August 26 2012

A lot of folks in the freedom movement who still believe in “good” and “minimal” government -- i.e. those who haven’t worked out why full blown anarchy is the best and most moral arrangement of human affairs -- tend to exhibit a distinct technophobia...particularly concerning the technological advancement brought forth by the corporations who under this fascist system of government control have no choice but to cooperate with the government.

The Weekend Vigilante August 25, 2012

Hello from Asuncion, Paraguay,

Both Ken Johnson of TDV Passports and I have spent the week in Paraguay. I’ve been here before and still call it an unknown jewel as far as places to visit. No one seems to know about Paraguay or even to have heard of it. Paraguay is similar to Mexico in terms of personal freedoms and a wide variety of incredibly excellent restaurants, bars and hotels. Paraguay, however, is an even better bargain than Mexico.

[Editor's Note: the following post is by our Mexican-based TDV Education Correspondent, Jorge Gato]

Morris Berman is a prolific writer on the social decline of the American Colossus and a fellow expat to Mexico. In Dark Ages America and Why America Failed: The Roots of Imperial Decline, he details the sordid mess the empire finds itself in. His conclusion is true;  there will be no happy ending. At least, not for the indoctrinated, self-centered, materialist masses who failed to note the writing on the wall.

Julian, Why the Western World?

We read the news of Julian Assange being confined to a few rooms of a building in London. These rooms are legally Ecuadorian soil so UK authorities can’t cross the boundary over to Ecuadorian soil unless invited, kind of like vampires.
