Video Games: The Government’s New Propaganda Tool

No, this is not real, it's a screen shot from the video game Homefront.
Video games are one of the fastest growing industries right now, with franchises such as Halo bringing in revenues of over 3 billion dollars. Governments are increasingly trying to twist the business into a brainwashing machine to promote their agendas, just as has been done with the movie industry.
Why are video games such a perfect tool for governments and why are governments stepping up their usage of them? Because the Internet generation now have easy access to all information and points of view. Governments don't want kids using the Internet to learn about these things. So governments need to keep kids distracted and under constant brainwashing. A typical American kid might go to school all morning learning about how great America is and how dangerous the rest of the world is, then come home and play some video games like Strategy 2012.

This game was free during the Presidential campaign and tells you who you should vote for and how political campaigns are run (or at least how the government would like you to think it's done). This is the official game description: “Help Mitt Romney win the Nomination by beating his conservative rivals. Then choose Romney or Obama and fight for the presidency in Ohio.”
America's Army: Getting your kids through boot camp before they are 18!
Or how about this FREE game (recruiting tool) that has cost tax payers well over $50 million dollars to develop and that will ensure your kids become more likely to want to enter the army? America's Army is what is called a 3rd person shooter that will teach you about real military strategies, weapons, equipment and more, prepping your kids for the future. In order to even get to play the game you will first register all your personal information and go through up to an hour of “boot camp” where you are forced to watch video interviews with American “heroes” that have been to war, talking about how great it is. Once you actually get to play it you will notice the lack of blood, gore and other atrocities making sure not to scare away future recruits.
Not only are government-developed games spreading propaganda. Game developers are now accepting the norms set by the government like in Scribblenaughts where the game set's a puzzle for you to solve by conjuring items. In one puzzle you get a mission called "Peacefully break up the Rioters!" What would a sane person try first? Well, I tried "Diplomat" and "Peacekeeper". Neither had any effect. So I tried “Tear Gas” and had the crowd crying and disbursing in seconds, immediately earning a gold star just as you would in school when you have done something right! You can watch the video here of me playing the mission.
And after a good session of gaming the kids will then watch some TV, like say CSI, where the police are always right and teaches you that you will always be caught and punished by the government's super agents if you break their rules!
So you see, now that the gaming industry have been infected by government propaganda they are now constantly sending the information they want to your kids. Except for when they sleep. But don't be surprised if they come up with a way to get them then, too.

The funny of this, only US Americans waste their time thinking about these subjects in games, lol... A sane person would distinguish a game from the real life...
Oh Americans, how fucked up is your mind....
fyi: This article was not written by an American or Canadian.
If you don't think there is propaganda in video games along with television shows, movies and newspapers, then how naive is your mind.
Thinking about Assassin's creed:
I have to start by saying i have a clear ventured interest in what i am about to talk about, that interest is to contradict the common belief about the unipolar censorship and propaganda in soviet union by analyzing this game, i may go as far as to conclude that: be it the modern government of the US or the global enterprise- but those parties who take part in this activity have mastered Goebbels' work.
I was a bit weary of the project when it first came out- a game about Freemasons in a historical context mixed with a science fiction story line surrounding some unknown alien crap..... for me personally it gave out shady vibes from the start (i mean common how many times have we heard oooo its all the Freemasons fault and so on). As i started playing i actually fell in love with the game not only because it had no clear correlation with history and made it absolutely clear but the fictitious storyline was so well made and unbiased that that it left me with a positive feeling about the world (i felt like there is actually some hope for this stupid planet which is sinking in greed corruption and propaganda).
My hopes how ever very quickly diminished- it was at the time that i watched the walk through of the expansion pack of the second game ''Assassin's Creed: Revelations'' that my fears of the project being a tool of manipulating history itself was pretty much correct. The game began to take a completely different approach from its predecessor: where the bipolarity went completely out of the window and distortion of historical truths was taken as the basis that intertwined with highly biased story line. The history of the fall of Bezantine (country of origin of my religion and today's Turkey) and especially Constantinople was not broadened and explained to the individual playing the game. Turks were made out as the ''good guys'' (which is not surprising considering that Turkey is Nato's greatest ally, which helps them significantly in achieving its goals in the middle east), where as the Bezantians became the new ''villains''. There was absolutely no clear introduction of the Bezantine actors in that game unlike we saw in the first one where both parties were criticized ''quite'' equally. How ever when you actually read the history of that conflict you will come to learn a very sad truth: Bezantine (having nothing to do with the crusade's other then showing hospitality at home to their fellow Christians in Europe) were cold heartily betrayed by their European fellow ''Christians'' when they were attacked and destroyed by the Turks (who in said case were the aggressors) and the so called ''Christians'' stood by and did nothing to save them. putting a label on the Bezantian's as the villains automatically made me think two things
1: Western World is covering its betrayal of that empire
2: By Making the The Turks look Noble they are securing their support in further cooperation in achieving western agenda and at the same time which is probably more correct- making them look good saves Turkey from criticism at home over human rights issues (as with the Kurds) and validity of Turkey's democracy today.
these analytical observations lead to a conclusion that a Vail is being put on every one and that this project is nothing more then propagation and censorship of the so called ''Washington Consensus''. Further evidence of this is provided as we look back at the prior games in detail. In Assassin's Creed 2 Medici are the main actors and are seen upon as the ''Good Guys'' how ever other then pursuing own financial and economical gain they are hardly to be called anything more then a bunch of bankers (surprisingly same people we seem to have a little problem with right now), their family is surrounded with their own intrigues, political manipulation which some times resulted in murder, (nothing more then thugs) who were the driving force behind capitalism during the Renaissance .
Going back to the original game i had to realize, most of you who played that game are aware of those crusaders that you had to hunt down in discreet locations all around the Map? the ''Templar''? It is true to say that those people committed terrible crimes against humanity and that they took back to Europe Pagan values and traditions acquired abroad........... how ever they were merely soldiers who were merely following the orders of the church in Europe who were later exiled for christening that same church , an interlink can be laid between them and the Veterans of today's conflicts, those who end up giving out Phones4U leaflets next to ASDA after Demobilizing from acombat zone and finding no life back home (a bit like after WWI), just as the Templars or the WWI Vets these Veterans are betrayed and humiliated by the same people who have sent them to war.
I Have stopped playing that game after the second part cos to me its all too Fishy, and as i heared the latest installment has gained some criticism here in UK just for those same reasons. I know its pointless to ask people my age to open a fucking book and read on the history of the events that take place in a game or a film made by the western enterprise, how ever i URGE any parents who are considering of letting their kids play a game or watch a movie with a historical context to make them read up as much as possible on the topic that is involved in that game or film.... or make them aware of real historical background by any means possible as long as they are entertained by it and are educated correctly....... other wise were all just going to be taken for a ride and fucked with.
Hi Vanya, it get's even more messed up in the latest game (spoiler ahead, so if you plan to play it don't read), I believe that in the end the protaganist you play turns out to side with the Templars!
Regarding parents reading up on games before letting their kids play, it can be a bit hard as kids want's games the day of release and the game companies tends to keep tight wraps on stiry driven games such as Assasins Creed. I think if you would just teach your kids to question everything and think with a free mind they would be able to see thru games and call BS on the ones sending the wrong message.
Thanks for your comment!
Cheers,
Michael.
Although government has certainly thrust the tentacles of tyranny into every form of media, there are a lot of games on the market that actually do the exact opposite. I am a video game enthusiast, and I've lost count of all the games where the plot of the story was to destroy a ruthless dictator or help a group of rebels. A great example is Half Life 2, which has a lot of 1984 aspects that you're fighting against!
Homefront, the game shown above, is actually about a military occupation of the US, where players join the resistance to fight against it, not for it.
The big problem is when army recruiters use games like Call of Duty to brainwash kids into joining their crusade.
