TDV Week in Review July 15, 2012

What a week! Thanks to those who joined us at FreedomFest in Las Vegas. What better place to discuss liberty than the epicenter of opulence and avarice? There was a lots going on here at TDV, so here’s a quick review:
MONDAY, JULY 9
TDV’s popular new feature demanded its own Feedback Edition! We continue the discourse on credit card debt, American dysfunction, criminal banks, moving back to 1913, and more.
TUESDAY, JULY 10
by Edwin Tucker
Edwin Tucker discusses the dichotomies of crime and punishment in the USSA.
“The US is a great place to be an oligarch. You are permitted to steal with impunity from people who are too brain dead to notice they are being robbed. Additionally, in the US it is inexpensive to gain oligarch status. In other societies you have to fight your way to the top and vigorously defend your power. In the US it only takes a few hundred thousand dollars in campaign donations to buy immunity.”
WEDNESDAY, JULY 11
Denise Rich once bribed the President of the USSA to get her criminal husband out of jail. Now she’s renouncing her citizenship.
“Some particularly brainwashed slaves think that anyone leaving their tax farms is some sort of turncoat. And, when expatriates leave with a large amount of money, many slaves pull out their knives and reveal their bloody fangs and call for that person to be murdered or robbed of his wealth because it is our wealth, as they did with Eduardo Saverin of Facebook who actually whipped Charles Schumer into a frenzy and set off a chain of events that would result in him launching the Expatriation Prevention by Abolishing Tax-Related Incentives for Offshore Tenancy” Act (EXPATRIOT).”
THURSDAY, JULY 12
An excellent piece by Mises.org’s Daniel James Sanchez, reprinted from June’s Free Market, celebrating the genius and legacy of Ludvig von Mises.
“But as fate would have it, Mises — whose ideas represented the apogee and fulfillment of the classical-liberal tradition — came on the scene at the precise moment when the Western world completely foreswore that tradition, embraced the total state, and hurled itself headlong toward self-destruction. Peace and the market were abandoned for war and planning. Mises was the ultimate knight of liberalism in two senses: he was the greatest and the last.“
FRIDAY, JULY 13
An abbreviated version of Feedback Friday, as Jeff Berwick was at FreedomFest (likely raising a glass with many of you, our dear readers) in Las Vegas all week. This edition looks at transaction taxes, as well as the denigration of sexuality.
SATURDAY, JULY 14
Jeff Berwick checks in from FreedomFest in Las Vegas, and reflects upon the frustrating dangers of Vegas, and how they reflect much larger issues across the USSA.
VIDEOS FROM THE WEEK
- A insightful video by Larken Rose entitled, "How To Be A Crook".
- Jeff Berwick speaks with Phil Mackesy about Porcfest 2012, Jeff's new post "Let go, Live Free", the book A Sense of the World, traveling, and the War on Drugs.
Don't forget, TDV is much more than a newsletter. We also offer many of the solutions to the problems we identify in the letter to help people internationalize their self and wealth to protect themselves from The End Of The Monetary System As We Know It (TEOTMSAWKI).
