TDV Week in Review July 29, 2012

Was it Police State Week at TDV? It sure felt like it. Still reeling from our Vegas encounters, we add the tales of the TSA Gestapo, as well as reaction to the mass shooting in Colorado which bred a gun control debate. Plus, the Mafioso Fed, the creepy Olympics (not-live on your local NBC affiliate!) and…Rockapulco?

Before we get to it, however, please check out this excellent interview Jeff Berwick did with the great Daily Bell website.

Now, let’s get to the week in review:

MONDAY, JULY 23

My Harassment by the TSA/Customs Gestapo

TDV’s Senior Analyst Ed Bugos shares a story of a trip to the USSA, where he’s detained by the TSA and treated like a criminal.

“In the detention room they take your passport and tell you to sit tight. Then they ignore you while you squirm about missing your flight. There were four other there also missing their flights. Since I had been in the room before, I knew it was pointless to try and get the “officials” to empathize with my flight situation, or to get them to try and get to me out any faster on account of it. I watched as other detainees in the room learned the same painful lesson.”

Auditing The Fed is Like Auditing a Mafia Counterfeiting Operation

On the Fed, and Ron Paul’s ambitious, but ultimately doomed, Federal Reserve Transparency Act (H.R. 459). So much for reason and accountability in government.

“But, here is the plain fact of the matter. We already know what the Federal Reserve is doing. Sure we may not know exactly which banks get exactly which graft, which may be of some interest. But for the most part we know exactly what they are doing. They are artificially price-fixing/manipulating interest rates at 0% through to 2014… which will be six years of ZIRP. And they are counterfeiting as much money as is necessary to support the massive trillion+ dollar deficits that the US Government has been doing for the last five years and with no end in sight in an unprecedented amount of money printing that has never been surpassed in Federal Reserve history.”

The Flintstones, Rockapulco, Occult Olympics, the criminal monarch Liz. The Peter Schiff Show, and the Global Escape Hatch, all in this week’s Weekend Vigilante.
