Paramilitary police state? What paramilitary police state?
The reasons to prepare to leave the US just keep piling up!
Tina Turner is turning in her US passport along with her US citizenship and becoming a Swiss citizen. You have to wonder if she heard the whoop of the military helicopter blades all the way across the Atlantic.
You see, dear reader, there's been another combined military and domestic police operations practice run in the USSA.
The last time something like this happened that we heard about was in downtown Minneapolis, just a few blocks from the home of your Minneapolis-based editor.
Hey, I can see Gary Gibson's house from here!
Dumping US citizenship is becoming all the rage. And it surely isn't just for financial reasons. Sure there is the latest tax-grabbing intrusive abomination known as Obamacare, but there are also these disturbingly more frequent coordinating practices between the military and local police.
So, taxes are increasing, regulations are getting more restrictive, the military and the police are publicly merging into one seamless black boot for the politicians to press against the population's collective neck. Even as the media leads the state's disinformation attack to convince America that only the government should have any guns while its subjects remain conspicuously unarmed.
Things are absolutely going to hell stateside. We will do everything we can to help you stay as free and wealthy as possible if you have no choice but to remain in the US. That's the raison d'être of our TDV Homegrown newsletter, after all. Every month we compile information and advice on strategies that will help you weather the economic and political storm as it grows worse. But for those of you who are in a position to internationalize, we also offer our passport services, so you have the option of divorcing yourself from the abusive US government if the need should arise.
Who am I kidding? You should absolutely divorce yourself from your abusive, murderous, thieving US government as soon as you can. If you can make your living from anywhere else in the world, get ready to do so now. And make sure to renounce any claim Uncle Sam has on your income, too. Start here.

Another exciting week here at TDV, as we react to the second inauguration of Obama, the ongoing gun control debate, the nanny state, and som much more.
Here’s what we wrote about this week…
MONDAY, January 21
Obama Inauguration Irony on Martin Luther King Jr. Day
TDV Editor Gary Gibson considers the inauguration and Obama’s affront to the sensibilities of Dr. King.
“Our first irony, therefore, is how King, a man of non-violent protest was eager to use the violence of the state to redistribute property to make up for past injustices. King might not have been an out-and-out communist, but he did have that commie flavor to his brand of statism. He was your typical democratic socialist who believed in gentle, "fair" theft and redistribution versus the totalitarian property grab that the hardcore commies love. King did suggest an actual figure for recompensation for past injustice -- i.e. a precise amount of money to steal from living people to correct the wrongs of long dead people -- but his main public opponent was state apartheid. What King fought against peacefully was the state's attempt to proscribe human associations.”

Don’t Worry About Your Guns, There’s Nothing Left to Defend
Jim Karger argues the 2nd Amendment provides protection of a freedom that no longer exists..
“And, even after all the recent saber-rattling in response to Obama's threat to ban certain semi-automatic rifles, I still believe every word of that article. Most Americans will give up their guns when they are told do so. Not necessarily because they are afraid to die, although most are, but because they are so used to giving up what the government mandates be turned over. Guns may just be the next takeaway in a long list of takings by the State.”

On the Fringe of the Dominant Financial World
Justin O’Connell takes an in-depth look at the future of the bitcoin.
“Like gold and silver, bitcoins can be internationalized. But, bitcoins cannot be held in the ‘analog world’ like gold and silver coin can. That’s why they are not a one-size-fits-all option for the committed rebel when it comes to freeing his or her money. However, both bitcoins and internationally stored gold and silver can go a long way towards safeguarding your hard-earned labor in something other than fiat currencies. One of the best arguments in favor of internationally storing gold and silver is the diversification of risk, and the ability to hold tangible assets that only stand to appreciate in value as G20 nation-states lead the way in open currency devaluation. What better way to further diversify your internationally stored gold and silver with a digitally trade-able medium? No more waiting for bankers to initiate wire transfers. You do it yourself. Of course, with freedom comes responsibility.”

TDV Managing Editor Redmond Weissenberger considers raising kids through the lens of the Austrian School, and draws parallels between how we raise our kids and how we rely on government.
“One of the most obvious differences between children and mature adults is what is known in the Austrian School as “time preference”. Children exhibit a high time preference, that is, they are unable or unwilling to put off gratification. In other words, they want everything now. Mature adults generally exhibit low time preference; they are able to look to the future, put off gratification, and understand that building their capital is necessary to build a better future for themselves.”
