Marijuana More Popular Than Obama

With the upcoming US congressional elections right around the corner we find ourselves actually interested in a particular vote.

Democracy is a failed, horrible criminal act and we pay it no respect by ever voting, especially in the US where the two-party system has long been a game of one puppeteer (the ruling financial elite) holding up two puppets for the American people to “choose” from – either of which will continue on doing exactly as the financial elite wish and only the style or rhetoric will change depending on which candidate gets elected.

But this year we actually found something so important to the health of humanity and the planet that, if we lived in California we would actually consider voting.  No, it’s not for a politician – we’d never vote for one of those.  It is the vote for the legalization of marijuana.

The “War on Drugs” has ruined more human lives and destroyed freedom more than any other War that the US has come up with – and that is saying a lot.

One only has to look at the failed prohibition of alcohol in the 1930s to see what happens when you try to ban the free trade of substances that people want.  They tried to ban alcohol and there were headless bodies found daily in the streets of Chicago (now they are found daily in the city of Juarez thanks to the War on Drugs) and the “criminals” became super rich.  In the 1930s it was Al Capone, now it is people like “The Barbie” in Mexico.

Because these narcotics entrepreneurs cannot access normal avenues of settling disputes, such as courts, and cannot access normal avenues of protection, such as police, drug gangs need to fight out their disputes on their own – something which has been a part of 28,000 deaths in Mexico just in the last 5 years.

It is said that 80% of violent crimes in the US are committed by “gangs”.  Without drugs being illegal none of those gangs would last very long with their only income coming from underground gambling establishments and pimping – two other things that should also be perfectly legal.

The government always points to these gangs and uses them as reasons why we need the government – to protect us.  But the government creates the gangs with their anti-freedom laws.

Even worse, they use the War on Drugs to justify many of their other invasions into our freedoms.  If you are stopped by a customs or police officer and have more than $10,000 in cash on you then you will be detained.  Why?  Because the funds may have come from “ill-gotten gains”.  As well, any intense screening at most borders are always justified by saying they are “looking for drug runners”.

Take away the war on drugs and most of the justification for government’s attack on freedoms go away.  All they would be left with, at that point, to justify looking for people with cash and screening people at borders would be because they may be “terrorists”.  The War on Terror, yet another clever ruse to take away freedoms.

Some people who have never done marijuana – of which there are maybe 4 or 5 on the entire planet, will always say, “Drugs need to be illegal because they are dangerous.”

We have two retorts to that.  One, no they are not.  And secondly, drugs being illegal does not stop anyone from doing them.

Marijuana is not dangerous.  Humans have been partaking of this beautiful little plant for millennia.  As most people know, all it does is make you giggle and want to eat potato chips.  And for this millions are in jail in the US?

Marijuana is a far, far more socially beneficial drug than alcohol.  Alcohol, of all the drugs, is one of the worst.  Walk into a room with a bunch of people smoking marijuana and you’ll walk into the friendliest most loving place on earth.

Walk into a room of people doing alcohol (commonly called a bar) and it may be a bit friendly at first but very quickly there is shouting, yelling, fighting and all manners of stupidity.  Not to mention that alcohol has ruined more lives, by an order of magnitude, than all other drugs in the world combined.  Everyone knows an alcoholic who lost his job, his house and his family to perfectly-legal Budweiser.

The only reason marijuana and other drugs are illegal in the US now is that corporate america, which owns Congress, would rather sell you Paxil, Zoloft, Xanax and other addictive drugs, than allow you to grow a plant in your house which has far greater health benefits and far, far fewer side-effects than anything panned by the pharmaceutical industry.

In fact, considering that a Gallup poll that came out today shows that 46% of Americans Support Legalizing Marijuana and that Obama’s approval rating just hit an all-time low of 37% it is clear Americans favor marijuana more than their own President.  Now if they can just figure out how to ban Obama they may be on to something.
