Thank You For Your Trespass And Murder
"…I've used a machine gun to kill a lot of the enemy."
The young Marine's voice boomed and suggested he'd been steeped in testosterone since his earliest steps into puberty. His voice would have served him well as a stage actor. In a better, freer world, he might have made a better baritone than a killer. In the narrow bar and grill his almost comically deep voice boomed and overcame any competition.
I try not to leave the house. A natural enough thing to try when you combine intense introversion with keen knowledge that you are completely surrounded by disagreeable slaves suffering from pronounced Stockholm Syndrome. But I had to meet the public school teacher I'd ended up dating in order to explain why I couldn't see her anymore. She wanted to go out for drinks. So we ended up at this bar in the North Loop on the northern edge of the downtown.
I was explaining to her why we couldn't continue dating…that I simply could no longer be intimate with people who lived at odds with my most basic moral principles. Given that I am against the initiation of violence, that meant that there would be maybe two or three hundred people in the world from among whom I could pick my friends and lovers. Further I was explaining why I would one day have to get as far away from the dangerous US as I could. She was trying to convince me that she and I didn't have to agree on everything in order to be a couple…and that America and her people weren't all that bad.
That's when the young Marine burst into the bar. We were seated by the sidewalk entrance next to a gaggle of men in dark business suits. The Marine took up a spot by the group of businessmen near us who then immediately struck up a conversation with him. There was the usual opener: "What do you do?"
"I'm a United States Marine," he said in that gleeful, booming voice.
"Thank you for your service!" one of the businessmen yipped as he enthusiastically shook the Marine's hand.
It wasn't long before the Marine was bragging about machine gunning Afghanis who had the audacity to resist US imperialistic might. I couldn't have asked for a better example of what I find so distasteful about my fellow humans, particularly those of the 21st century American breed. They are a bunch of thieves and thugs who dress their violence up with ballot boxes and social contracts the way a perverse and lonely farmer carefully applies lipstick to his prize pig.
My own companion that night was paid with stolen money to shovel kids through indoctrination camps. The men beside me got a sexual charge out of invasion and murder. The millions of Americans and Canadians for thousands of miles in every direction cherished the same things as those within my immediate radius: sanctified theft, indoctrination, murder, authority backed by violence.
We present strategies for surviving in the US in TDV Homegrown. But honestly, if you can be somewhere else, you should get out. Where you go is up to you, but TDV can help you figure that out with TDV Concierge services, a free bonus to TDV Dispatch subscribers. You should also consider joining our burgeoning community in Galt's Gulch, Chile.
Abraham argued with God about sparing Sodom and Gomorrah. If I were in Abraham's situation with the fate of, say, the US and Canada on the line, that would be a much shorter conversation and an easier negotiation. There are precious few worth saving north of Mexico. It would be much more efficient to get the moral and productive out and just letting the rest of it collapse and burn.

Here’s what we wrote about this week…
MONDAY, March 11
Obama Can Kill Americans on US Soil Without Due Process?
Wendy McElroy on the drone murdering in our backyards.
“It is impossible to know what constitutes “extraordinary circumstances.” America has been in a state of war and militarization for almost 12 years since 9/11. It could refer to circumstances law enforcement cannot handle and, so, the military becomes necessary. In reality, “extraordinary” will mean whatever the administration wishes. The national emergency could be nothing more than a grassroots refusal of Americans to voluntarily surrender guns. At that point, Obama could bypass both Congress and the Constitution by invoking the War Powers Act and declare martial law.”
TUESDAY, March 12
The Economic Zombie Apocalypse
Gary Gibson on what we can learn from the rise of zombie popularity.
"The end of civilization is already here. Most of humanity has been turned into an unthinking mass of economic zombies that are looking to feast on the still living flesh of the few survivors. This may explain the increasing popularity or obsession with all things zombie. From fiction to pub crawls, the zombie apocalypse seems to be on a lot of minds, probably as an unconscious manifestation of economic reality.”
WEDNESDAY, March 13
Another Billionaire Makes a Break for It
Jeff Berwick on the latest USSA citizen to take his money and run.
“Another rich US subject is getting ready to flee the growing predation of the taxman. This week John Paulson of hedge fund Paulson & Co. is taking a long, hard look at a move to Puerto Rico for the explicit purpose of eliminating taxes on $9.5 billion in gains he invested in his own hedge funds.
Should he go through with the move, Paulson would be joining ten other wealthy Americans who would be paying no local or US federal taxes on capital gains, thanks to a fairly new Puerto Rican law. This is just part of a larger and growing trend in which the wealthy from all over the decaying Western world are "voting with their feet" and escaping the increasing levels of armed robbery by their governments.”
THURSDAY, March 14
Ed Bugos asks, “Can gold be the money of the free market if the violent monopoly of government gets behind the effort?”
"About 10 years ago I wrote an essay about how central banking and sound money are mutually exclusive — that they cannot co-exist in the same economy anymore than lovemaking and rape can co-exist in the same act. It has to be one OR the other. Hence, the return to sound money cannot be achieved without ending the Fed. Keeping the Fed with a gold standard would lead to something like the bad experience Britain had when it tried to return to a preward ratio of gold to the British pound."
